Cowley College serves as premier sponsor of Kansas Wheat Festival

WELLINGTON — In advance of groundbreaking ceremonies for its Sumner County campus, Cowley College served as the premier sponsor of the 117th annual Kansas Wheat Festival on July 12-16 in Wellington. Along with the financial support the sponsorship provided the festival, Abby Hollins, Cowley College’s director of marketing, and Kristi Shaw, executive director of enrollment management, organized a fleet of Cowley College vehicles to participate in the Kansas Wheat Festival parade on July 14. In addition to the college vehicles, a group of 30 administrators, faculty, staff and family members walked in the parade. Cowley College President Dennis Rittle and his family also participated in the parade prior to taking part in the VFW breakfast and other festival activities on July 15. College representatives also attended the invitation-only art exhibit, while Jan Grace, Sumner County campus operations officer, and Tina Grillot, associate vice president of business and industry, attended the Picnic in the Park, where they spoke about the Sumner County campus groundbreaking ceremony and Cowley’s Career and Technical Education programs. Alderbrook Village to be host July 18 to Stage 5 Senior Reader Theater

Alderbrook Village will be host to Stage 5 Senior Reader Theater at 6 p.m. July 18, according to a news release. “If you close your eyes during the performance, you’ll be reminded of the days when radio was the only form of entertainment,” the release states. “With five years of performances, Stage 5 Senior Reader Theater is sure to deliver a fun and funny night.” Attendees also are invited to tour the assisted living community that night and enjoy light refreshments at the complimentary event.
