WINFIELD — Petpalooza, an annual event put on by the Cowley County Humane Society (CCHS), is set for Sept. 23. “Well-behaved and rabies-vaccinated dogs are welcome to bring their humans to Black Creek Park in Winfield … to celebrate the special bond between them,” said CCHS board member Alice Shaffer. The festivities begin at 10 a.m. and admission to the event is free. There will be a host of activities and contests during Petpalooza. For example, there will be off-leash big dog and small dog parks, featuring pools and agility equipment for dogs to play. There also will be a bouncy house and lawn games for kids, a cake walk, a ring toss, and bacon-flavored bubble machines. Among the activities planned are an opportunity to have a picture taken for the Humane Society’s Facebook photo contest throughout the day. A “doggy boutique” — where attendees can purchase stylish clothing, accessories and treats, all for a small donation — also will be on site. “You can create memories at our Pawcasso doggy art booth or make enrichment items to give the shelter animals something to do while they are waiting for their forever homes,” Shaffer said.
