Although previous events have carried the theme of Coffee with a Cop, this one will take on more of a summer flavor with free snow cones for all who attend.
From 5:30 to 7 p.m. July 18, ACPD and CCEC personnel will meet the public at Penguin Paradice, located at 1501 N. Summit St.
Junior-sized snow cones will be provided free of charge. Larger snow cones may be purchased by individuals who attend.
This event is an opportunity for community members to visit with employees of the police department in a safe, comfortable environment, free of distractions.
This function does not involve speeches or agendas. The public is welcome to come meet police officers and talk about what is important to them.
Coffee with a Cop is a national movement to enhance the relationship between the police, the public and the business community.
The premise is that there are no agendas or speeches — it simply is a venue for department employees to talk with citizens in a relaxed, safe environment.
These types of social interactions happen every day, but a structured time and place allows for community outreach through media outlets and affords several different business locations opportunities to host.
