Alderbrook Village will be host to a holiday fundraiser this year called the Festival of Wreaths.

Alderbrook Village logoThe event, which will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 16, features wreaths that have been donated by local businesses.

“(The) wreaths will be auctioned during our festive event and proceeds will benefit the blessing boxes of Arkansas City,” said Alderbrook’s director of sales and marketing, Cindy Kegley.

The blessing boxes were set up throughout town courtesy of the Soroptimists of Arkansas City.

Residents who are in need of help can pick up items from the boxes as needed. “Take what you need, leave what you can,” is the program’s motto.

“(They’re) designed to be like the cup of sugar or egg that you borrow from your neighbor,” said Soroptimist Brandy Williams.

The boxes are located at:

  • Central Christian Church, 206 W. Central Ave.;
  • First United Methodist Church, 2448 Edgemont Drive;
  • Northwest Community Center, 615 W. Birch Ave.;
  • Shepherd’s Grace Church, 1125 S. Summit St.

Community members are welcome to leave non-expired, non-perishable food in the blessing boxes, as well as toiletries.

“We’re excited for the opportunity to support our blessing boxes of Arkansas City,” Kegley said.

Hors d’oeuvres will be served during the event and attendees will be able to immerse themselves in the “sights, sounds and tastes of the holiday season.”

“We are reaching out to our most trusted business partners to see if you can help us make this season brighter for those in our care,” Kegley said.

Alderbrook will provide company signage at each wreath, with the sponsoring company’s name and logo.

“We will happily set out any brochures you provide for our residents and event attendees,” Kegley added.

For any individual or business that would like to donate a wreath, Alderbrook offers the following:

  • a 24-inch, pre-decorated wreath with a theme of the donor’s choice;
  • a door hanger;
  • wreath delivery anytime between Dec. 1 through Dec. 13.
