The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a local man in connection with a structure fire Monday in rural Winfield, according to a news release.
Jacob Andes, 25, is being sought in connection with the early morning fire. Investigators have spent considerable time looking for him near the scene, said Sheriff David Falletti. He might have a firearm in his possession and law enforcement officials urge calling 911 if he is seen.
Deputies were dispatched about 2:38 a.m. July 11 to 19979 151st Road for a disturbance. When they arrived, they observed smoke coming from a single-wide trailer home at that location, which soon became fully engulfed.
A deputy reported hearing what sounded like popping noises from inside the residence, thinking they could either be gunshots or noises from the fire itself.
Firefighters from Atlanta and Winfield helped to extinguish the blaze.
There is an ongoing investigation into the cause and origin of the fire, but it is suspected as possible arson. This case is still under investigation.
