With help from the Arkansas City Lioness Club, Ark City Middle School’s KAY Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions and Student Council members presented a check for $600 to Angels in the Attic this week, to provide holiday gifts and meals to local children and their families.
“We have had a lot of families request Christmas help after we had closed our sign up … The list is growing longer … but it is the kindness and generosity of our communities that makes this possible,” said a representative of Angels in the Attic.
“They are some amazing young people,” a post on Angels in the Attic’s Facebook page states. “(It) warms the heart to know they are our future.”
Angels in the Attic case manager Ivy Beals said earlier this month that the need she has seen this year has been different than in years past.
This year, families have been seeking more help with food and utilities, she said.
Angels in the Attic is located at 109 S. Summit St. Those in need of its services or who are interested in donating may call (620) 446-5272.
