Angels in the Attic, Inc. is collecting school supplies for the upcoming school year.

While supplies can be dropped off at Angels’ downtown location at 109 S. Summit St., individuals also are encouraged to join Angels in the Attic at a Stuff the Bus event. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 28 in front of the Walmart Supercenter, located at 2701 N. Summit St.

“Come join us … and enjoy a (barbecue beef) sandwich, chips and a bottle of water or tea for $5,” states the Angels in the Attic Facebook page.

“All proceeds and donations will go toward school supplies.”

School supply lists can be found at Walmart or online at www.usd470.com/228160_3.

The donated supplies will be delivered to Angels in the Attic, then given out to kids at a date yet to be determined.

The Arkansas City Kiwanis Club has donated $1,000 to the locally formed nonprofit, with express instructions that the funds were to be used for programs that benefited children. Walmart also has donated funds to Angels in the Attic, in the form of a $1,500 grant.

“I believe they were using a majority, if not all, of that money for school supplies,” said Walmart Manager Mark Chickadonz.
