Train unveiled at kickoff party

Among the festivities planned is a dedication of the renovated train at 5:30 p.m.

The train will be revealed next week after being covered since early this year.

Following the dedication ceremony, there will be a video presentation and small reception at the rotunda.

In honor of this year’s Arkalalah theme, the Executive Committee will sponsor the movie “The Great Outdoors.”

The John Candy comedy classic will be shown for free under the rotunda starting at 7 p.m.

Downtown concession stands will open for business at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

There are 25 concession stands this year, with three additional booths on West Fifth Avenue.

The beer garden opens Wednesday, as well, and will operate from 12:30 p.m. to midnight each day.

Wednesday also is “All You Can Ride Night” at the carnival.

Starting at 8 p.m., there will be a fireworks show that can be viewed from downtown Summit Street.

The Parade of Lights will begin immediately following the fireworks.
