Wednesday, Oct. 26

Concessions Open

Concessions for the 2016 Arkalalah Festival will be open from 11 a.m. to about 10 p.m. Oct. 26 in downtown Arkansas City.Arkalalah

Arktoberfest

Stop by the Arktoberfest beer garden from 11 a.m. to midnight Oct. 26 at 122 N. Summit St. to have an ice-cold beer or glass of wine while visiting with old friends and listening to live music.

Vegetable Soup/Bean Feed and Craft Sale

The American Legion Auxiliary will be host to a vegetable soup or bean feed and craft sale from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 at American Legion Post 18, 113 E. Washington Ave.

Tickets are $5 per person. Dine-in and carryout are available.

All You Can Ride Night

Evans United Shows is offering All You Can Ride Night from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 26 for one price at the Arkalalah carnival.

Ticket booths open at 5:30 p.m. Rides open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $18 per person at the carnival.

Discounted tickets are available at $15 if purchased before noon Oct. 26 at Community National Bank & Trust, RCB Bank, Union State Bank or the Arkalalah office at 106 S. Summit St.

Fireworks Show

The annual Arkalalah fireworks show, sponsored by Rogers Family Dentistry and Community National Bank & Trust, will begin at 8 p.m. Oct. 26 in downtown Arkansas City.

Fireworks will be shot off from north of City Hall.

Parade of Lights

The 2016 Arkalalah Parade of Lights, sponsored by Westar Energy, will begin at 8 p.m. Oct. 26 at Spruce Avenue and Summit Street, and proceed south to Adams Avenue.

Every spectacular entry must be covered with twinkling lights. Entry forms and rules are available in the Arkalalah office, 106 S. Summit St.


Thursday, Oct. 27

The 2016 Arkalalah carnival will be open from 5 to 10 p.m. Oct. 27 in the parking lot north of W.S. Scott Auditorium, 216 W. Fifth Ave.

Cowley College presents DodgeBallalah

The third annual Arkalalah dodgeball tournament, presented by Cowley College, will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at W.S. Scott Auditorum, 216 W. Fifth Ave. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

All Class Reunion Concert

Brand new to Arkalalah this year will be the first-ever All Class Reunion Concert, featuring the Annie Up Band, from 8 to 11 p.m. Oct. 27 under the rotunda at Wilson Park, 701 N. Summit St.

Admission is free and there will be a cash bar. Alcohol will be served from 6 p.m. to midnight in a designated area of the park.


Friday, Oct. 28

Carnival Opens

The 2016 Arkalalah carnival will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 28 in the parking lot north of W.S. Scott Auditorium, 216 W. Fifth Ave.

Craft Show

Outstanding crafts will be shown at the Arkalalah Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Arkansas City Recreation Center, 225 E. Fifth Ave.

Helicopter Rides

Arkalalah helicopter rides will be offered from 11 a.m. to dusk Oct. 28 at Carver Park, 102 N. Eighth St. Cost is $40 per rider per flight. Minimum of two riders per flight required.

City Offices Close at Noon

All City of Arkansas City offices, including City Hall, will close at noon Oct. 28 due to the Arkalalah Festival. Residential and commercial trash pickup will not be affected.

Cornhole Tournament

The Arkalalah cornhole tournament, sponsored by 1025 The River, will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 28 in the 200 block of South Summit Street in downtown Arkansas City.

In the event of inclement weather, the tourney will be held at the Agri-Business Building, 712 W. Washington Ave. To register or for more information, call (620) 442-1102 or stop by 106 N. Summit St.

All You Can Ride Day

Little Miss, Mister Finalists Announced

The announcement of the Little Miss and Little Mr. Arkalalah finalists, sponsored by the Arkalalah Association, will be at 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Summit Street in downtown Arkansas City. Winners will be crowned that night at Coronation. All contestants will ride in the Children’s Parade.

Children’s Parade

The 2016 Arkalalah Children’s Parade, sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1254 and the VFW Auxiliaries, will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 28 in downtown Arkansas City.

No motorized vehicles will be allowed. Entrants must be able to push, pedal or pull their entry.

Judging for prizes in six age categories, plus two specialty prizes, will be at 2:30 p.m. at Chestnut Avenue and Summit Street.

Coronation

The 2016 Arkalalah Coronation, featuring the crowning of the 85th Queen Alalah and the Little Miss/Mister crownings, will be at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Cowley College’s Robert Brown Theatre, 215 S. Second St. Ark City Dance will be the featured performers. Admission is $8 for advance reserved seats. Tickets may be purchased at the Arkalalah office, 106 S. Summit St.


Saturday, Oct. 29

70th annual Kiwanis Pancake Feed

The 70th annual Kiwanis Arkalalah Pancake Feed will be from 5:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Union State Bank parking garage, 114 S. First St. Gift bags courtesy the Kiwanis.

Tickets are $6 for adults or $3 for children aged 5 to 11. Children younger than 5 years old are admitted for free.

2-Mile Run

Registration for the 2016 Arkalalah 2-Mile Run will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Oct. 29 at the Arkalalah office, 106 S. Summit St.

The 2-Mile Run, sponsored by the Arkansas City Recreation Center and GE Engine Services, will be at 9 a.m. Oct. 29. The race will begin near the Arkalalah office at Central Avenue and Summit Street.

The presentation of trophies and prizes, sponsored by the Ark City Rec Center, will be at 10 a.m.

Craft Show

Kids Fun Run

Check-in for the 2016 Arkalalah Kids Fun Run, sponsored by RCB Bank, for grades K-5 will be at 9:45 a.m. Oct. 29. The fun run for elementary school students will begin at 10:15 a.m.

The Good Sport Award and a $300 fitness grant will be presented at 11 a.m. to the USD 470 elementary school with the highest percentage of participants in the Fun Run.

Private schools each will receive a $200 grant.

St. Paul United Methodist Church will be host to a chicken noodle dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 29 at 220 E. Washington Ave.

Art Exhibit

An art exhibit, “An American Place,” will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 29 at Ark City Arts, 120 S. Summit St.

Street Games

The 2016 Arkalalah street games, sponsored by the Lions and Lionesses of Arkansas City and the Arkalalah Executive Committee, will be at 11:15 a.m. Oct. 29 on downtown Summit Street.

This event promises fun for all ages and prizes will be awarded in all categories.

Big Parade

The 2016 Arkalalah Big Parade will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 29 on downtown Summit Street.

Float prizes will be awarded to participating organizations, churches, schools and commercial entities, as well as the Queen’s Choice.

Band and Flag Festival/Light Show

The 2016 Arkalalah Band and Flag Festival will be at 4 p.m. Oct. 29 at Arkansas City High School’s Bulldog Stadium, 1200 W. Radio Lane.

ACHS’ own Bulldog Marching Band will take the field at dusk for the annual light show. It is a treat for the eyes and ears. Attendees won’t believe what a great show these students produce.

Burford Theatre Concert

The V.J. Wilkins Family Center for the Arts at the Burford Theatre, 118 S. Summit St., will be host to a special concert Oct. 29 as part of its grand opening season.

Bryne Donaldson and Lawrence Ross will be in concert starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.
