The Arkansas City Police Department is investigating the death of a 2-month-old male child May 7 in Arkansas City, but there currently are no signs of foul play.

The investigation is ongoing, but at this time there are no signs of abuse or neglect, or any signs of suspicious activity being involved in the child’s death.

The Arkansas City Police and Fire-EMS departments were dispatched May 7 to the 1000 block of South B Street for a report of a child who was not breathing.

EMS personnel then attempted CPR. Despite the life-saving attempt, the child passed away a short time later from unknown causes.

The Cowley County coroner was contacted and an autopsy was ordered. The autopsy was completed at the Sedgwick County Forensic Center in Wichita.
