The Winfield Arts and Humanities Council is dedicating this year’s Art in the Park Festival to honoring the “volunteer spirit” in Winfield.

The 2016 festival is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday/Oct. 1 at Island Park. A welcome dinner will be at 5 p.m. Friday/Sept. 30.

The strength of a nonprofit organization is in its volunteers. Each volunteer contributor brings to the association talents, knowledge, experience and vision, and the citizens of Winfield have been instrumental in making the town as vibrant and relevant as it is today.

They assist patients, build playgrounds, restore buildings, raise funds, feed the needy, teach and guide students, and do infinitely more.

As part of the festival layout, the Arts and Humanities Council is dedicating a section of Island Park to organizations that use volunteers.

This is an opportunity for each organization to showcase its services to Winfield, offer opportunities for volunteerism and thank the volunteers it has.

Each nonprofit will be allowed a 12- by 12-foot space at no charge.

Organizations may set up canopies, tables, refreshments, displays or anything that promotes them and their volunteers.
