Valentine’s Day keeps Cowley College Singers busy serving Valengrams

The Cowley College Singers performed singing Valengrams on Feb. 14 and raised money to help to pay for their trip to the University of Northern Colorado Jazz Festival in April. The fundraiser made for a memorable Valentine’s Day for numerous individuals in Arkansas City, Winfield and Ponca City, Oklahoma. Several individuals ordered singing Valengrams, which consisted of the Cowley College Singers delivering at least two songs and two roses. Escalante, Holmes named Cowley College Homecoming king and queen

Felipe Escalante and Braydee Holmes were named Cowley College’s Homecoming king and queen during halftime of the men’s basketball game versus Dodge City Community College on Feb. 14 at W.S. Scott Auditorium, capping a week full of Homecoming activities. Escalante is the son of Jovito and Antonia Escalante. Youth Hoops Academy girls take second place at Blanchard tournament

The Arkansas City Youth Hoops Academy placed second Feb. 3 at the Blanchard, Oklahoma, tournament. The team, comprising fifth- and sixth-grade girls, went 2-1 overall. The Youth Hoops team is coached by Tyler Henderson and Keishawna Stephens. Shakur, Tyresse Hardiman arrested Feb. 8 after two commercial burglaries

The Arkansas City Police Department arrested two Arkansas City men Feb. 8 after a pair of burglaries to commercial property in south Arkansas City. Shakur Dequon Hardiman, 20, and Tyresse Jasper Boyd Hardiman, 18, both were arrested on suspicion of two counts of felony burglary to a non-dwelling and two counts of misdemeanor criminal damage to property. They were transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in lieu of $12,000 bond each through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. A total of 125 high school students took part in Math and Science Day events Feb. 7 at Cowley College’s main campus in Arkansas City.
