The 2018 Outdoor Family Movie Series will resume Friday in Arkansas City with another Marvel movie under the Wilson Park rotunda, 701 N. Summit St.
The 2018 blockbuster “Black Panther,” sponsored by Union State Bank, will be shown starting at 8 p.m. Friday. The PG-13-rated film is about two hours and 15 minutes long.
The critically acclaimed film stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, the titular king of Wakanda who rises to the throne of the isolated, technologically advanced African nation. But his claim is challenged by a vengeful outsider (Michael B. Jordan) who was a childhood victim of T’Challa’s father’s mistake.
The movie is being rescheduled from its originally planned date of Thursday due to extreme heat being predicted for that day, as well as other event conflicts that arose after the date originally was set.
At least three more movies are planned this year, including a “three-quel” to prior years’ showings of “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory” at Paris Park Pool. This year, “The Little Mermaid” will play July 13.
“We are so appreciative of the generous sponsors who make these wonderful events possible,” said City Manager Nick Hernandez. “If you are interested in being a sponsor this fall, please call myself or Andrew Lawson at 441-4415 to discuss pricing options. There still are some opportunities available!”
