The Chestnut Avenue Venue soon will be host to a brand-new bridal fair.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 17, this event will feature different vendors, including photographers, bakers, caterers and more.

Rhonda Jordan, one of the owners of Chestnut Avenue Venue, and Brittany Carder, owner of Colorful Events Bakery, have planned the event together.

“She is just wonderful,” Jordan said of Carder. “I don’t know where she gets her energy from.”

The duo have approximately 35 vendors lined up for this first fair.

“We definitely have a full house,” Carder said.

Chestnut Avenue Venue is located at 3120 E. Chestnut Ave. Jordan can be contacted at (620) 660-1401.

Supporting local business

The idea behind the fair was to promote local businesses that provide services that can be used for large events.

“We want the local businesses to succeed,” Jordan said.

She knows of several people who intend to offer such services in the future, such as videography for special events.

“There is so much that people don’t realize is here,” Jordan said.

The bridal fair also will be free to those who wish to attend.

Giveaways and specials

There will be two bridal basket giveaways at the fair — and the winners do not need to be present to win.

“Many, if not all, of the caterers and cake designers will be offering product and menu samples,” Carder said.

The first 100 guests to arrive at the bridal fair will receive a canvas “Cowley County Bridal and Events Connection” tote in which to gather and carry promotional materials available during the fair.

“We have created a public Facebook page called ‘Cowley County Bridal and Events Connection’ to make searching for local service providers easier on brides and anyone planning an event,” Carder said.

There also will be a directory of albums, listed by category of service, available.

During the first two hours of the event, 1025 The River will broadcast live from Chestnut Avenue Venue.

Schmidt Jewelers is offering a special at the event, as well — $100 off the purchase of any ring. Full details can be found at its booth during the event.

New facilities

Chestnut Avenue Venue opened in the summer of 2016 with a facility that could hold 150 people comfortably.

That facility also has an outdoor pavilion and a fire pit.

Recently, the Jordans have been in the process of adding an additional indoor venue on the site. It will hold up to 300 people.

“We knew there was a need,” said Rhonda Jordan.

The journey to open the facility began after she attended several weddings.

Jordan is related to the individuals who were married and knew what kind of services were provided at the venues.

“There wasn’t anything wrong with them, but I knew we could do better,” she said.

Chestnut Avenue Venue has been used for many different purposes, such as weddings, birthday parties and baby showers.

“We’re booked until 2024 for Arkalalah,” Jordan said.

Looking forward

Jordan has big plans for the future, including teaming up with Abby Young, of Rusty Arrow.

Jordan and Young have been working together for some time. Young specializes in special event décor.

The initial facility at Chestnut Avenue Venue will be home to the various décor Young has available for rent.

“She is amazing,” Jordan said. “She has staged in other venues in (Cowley County), as well.”

Young has a plethora of styles available, from feathers and bling to farmhouse chic.

When all is said and done, there will be an entire warehouse full of décor that can be previewed.
