Chaplin Nature Center will be host to a moonlight walk-run event on Aug. 10.

“Beat the heat — get outdoors and get moving with this 2-mile moon fun run or walk,” Chaplin Naturalist Shawn Silliman posted on Facebook.

The route will follow the center’s tallgrass prairie trail.

“Along the way, (participants) can stop to test their moon knowledge and be awarded glow sticks,” Silliman said.

Those who wish to participate still can sign up for a $10 fee and receive a shirt at the event, but only until the morning of Aug. 10.

“After that, you can still attend (with) no cost or shirt — but still call to sign up,” he requested.

This non-timed event will start at 9 p.m., but participants need to arrive by 8:30 p.m. to officially register.

Chaplin Nature Center is located west of Arkansas City and north of U.S. 166 at 27801 27th Drive.
