The Chewbacca Lady has taken the internet by storm.
There isn’t anything particularly fascinating about the woman, who is a mother of two kids and shops at Kohl’s.
She tells viewers she’s making a return to the store and finds something for herself.
After she takes her glasses off and puts on the mask, she starts laughing uncontrollably.
And the “internetwebz” went insane. I’m not entirely sure why, but even I can’t help but smile when I watch the video.
“It’s the simple joys,” she says at the very end of the clip. And maybe that’s why it’s been shared more than 3 million times.
Granted, a mask making the Wookiee noises is the stuff of nerd dreams, but I don’t think it’s the mask itself that makes this video so popular.
That woman has joy.
And as far as I’m concerned, the video shows “fangirling” in a way that it should be done.
You can tell that this woman likes Star Wars — she’s wearing a Death Star shirt!
She didn’t hold back at all when she was truly happy about something that not every person likes.
She showed her love of Star Wars to the world via a video she posted online, not because she expected anything in return — she simply was happy about what she had found at Kohl’s.
Because she allowed herself to enjoy something she loved, she has been given crazy opportunities in the last week.
She visited Facebook headquarters. She was on Good Morning America.
She visited Lucasfilm headquarters — there’s a video of this, too, and Yoda even makes an appearance.
Kohl’s gave her and her kids a whole haul of Star Wars and Marvel toys, and some gift certificates.
She even made an appearance in a “Laugh It Up, Fuzzball” cartoon.
She should be an inspiration to us all. We should love what we love and not be hesitant to show it.
“Fangirling” over our passions shouldn’t be frowned upon or stifled.
Feel how you feel, don’t apologize and enjoy the small things.
