KanPak and Golden State Foods have announced an upcoming chili cook-off, which will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 12 at John and Rhonda Jordan’s Chestnut Avenue Venue, located at 3120 E. Chestnut Ave.
The event is open to the public and tickets can be purchased at the door for $5 each. Children younger than 3 years old will be admitted for free.
There are six categories in the cook-off — best traditional, best original (most unique), with beans, without beans, hottest and people’s choice.
Prizes will be awarded for first place and runner-up in each category. Anyone can register to take part in the competition and registration is free.
The chili entries will be judged by a panel of four to five local judges.
Monetary contributions to the event will go straight to the Golden State Foods Foundation and 100 percent of the money will make a local impact.
The foundation strives to impact children and families in need, in the communities where Golden State Foods employees live and work.
