The Arkansas City Community Band will wrap up its 147th consecutive season with three concerts in quick succession over the next week.

All community band concerts are free and open to the public.

The band will play its annual Independence Day concert July 4 on the east side of First United Methodist Church, located at 2448 Edgemont Drive. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and feature patriotic American music. Hot dogs, fixings and bottled water will be provided.

Seating is very limited, so concert-goers will want to bring their own chairs or blankets.

The next day, the band will play its last concert of the season at the Wilson Park rotunda. This concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. July 5 and will feature a wide range of musical selections from previous concerts, as well as a new chart or two.

The final community band concert of the year will be July 9 on the front lawn of Ark City Presbyterian Manor, located at 1711 N. Fourth St.

This special concert will begin at 7 p.m. Seating only will be provided for Presbyterian Manor residents, so all others need to bring their own.
