WICHITA — The Cowley College Concert Choir will participate in the Sing It! Festival of choral music Feb. 8 at Friends University in Wichita.

This is an all-day event, culminating in an evening concert at the Sebits Auditorium in the Riney Fine Arts Building on the Friends University campus.

Along with the Concert Choir, choirs from several Sedgwick County high schools also will participate.

Each choir will present two selections for the concert, and all choirs will form one large ensemble to present two selections to end the concert.

This year’s clinician is Mitos Andaya-Hart, associate professor of choral music at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Along with rehearsing and conducting the mass choir, Andaya-Hart also will spend time giving a choral clinic to each individual choir.

In addition to the choral experiences, each school will select two students to participate in a vocal solo masterclass competition.

The winner and runner-up then will present their solos at the evening concert.

The two students selected for Cowley College are Jennifer Guzman, a sophomore from Wichita, and Tristan Barragan, a freshman from Wellington.

Tickets for the concert are $6 for adults or $3 for seniors and students. Tickets also may be ordered at www.friends.edu/featured-events/choral-vocal-music.
