Downtown Arkansas City will be host to a sidewalk sale June 25, although some vendors will have their sales inside due to the heat.

The sidewalk sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Organizer Jill Wineinger, owner of Willow Fashion, said approximately 20 stores will offer sales.

Wineinger is among those opening the doors. Willow, located at 225 S. Summit St., will be host to a sidewalk fire sale during the event.

“Everything will be marked down as much as 60 percent. We will also have used items for as low as 25 cents, as well as clothing racks and display items at rock-bottom prices,” she said.

Four other participants

Graves Drug manager Jancie Harader said the pharmacy was participating, as well.

“It’s a hodgepodge (of sales) — makeup, picture frames, gifts galore,” Harader said. Even baby items will be included.

Graves is located at 212 S. Summit St.

McDonald’s Sewing and Vacuum, located at 316 S. Summit St. will offer Singer sewing machines starting from $99, Husqvarna Viking sewing machines starting from $169 and new vacuums starting from $99.

Double Eagle Firearms and Pawn, located at 104 S. Summit St., will participate, but its sales will be entirely inside.

Owner Darrin Green said sale items will include tools, knives, weed whackers, jewelry, computers, DVDs and Blu-Rays.

Land Rush Antique Mall, located at 208 S. Summit St., and some of its vendors will be having sales.

“We will have several of our vendors outside,” said Amanda White.

Some of the items on sale will include popcorn blouses, onesies, little girl tutu dresses, new jewelry and Mother Hen’s Cupboards items, including jelly, salsa and pickles. There also will be a $1 vintage jewelry table.

“A lot of our vendors inside will also be having sales and we will open early, at 9 a.m.,” White said. “We will also have a cooler of free water.”

Fundraiser

Ark City Daily Bytes, located at 115 S. Summit St., is teaming up with Deb Hunt, of End of the Hunt, to host a fundraiser for Arkansas City Police Department Capt. Mark McCaslin.

McCaslin recently was diagnosed with a very rare disease, but is recovering from its severe side effects. There is still much treatment to pay for, however.

Daily Bytes will have baked goods available for the duration of the sidewalk sale, and walking tacos from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hunt will sell Gold Canyon Candles from the same location.

McCaslin will dropping by during the fundraiser, as well.

These vendors, and many more, will be offering their products and services June 25.
