WINFIELD — More than 10 percent of the eligible voting population of Cowley County have turned in their 2016 voting ballots.

Vote graphicCounty Clerk Karen Madison, the county’s chief election officer, said 1,990 people have voted at her office in Winfield as of Nov. 3, and another 695 have mailed in their ballots.

Madison said polling places in Arkansas City, Parkerfield and Bolton Township all will have iVotronic voting machines.

However, voters will be able to cast their lot with paper ballots, if they prefer.

Madison said Election Day results likely will be available before Nov. 9, but that is dependent on whether any of the races are close.

If a race is especially close, the official determination of the winner will come after canvassing on Nov. 14.
