Eldon was born Dec. 24, 1941, to Edwin Clarence and Elsie Pearl (Herman) Moorman in Garfield County, Oklahoma.
He grew up and attended school in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
After moving to Arkansas City, he worked for Pomona Tile Company for four years before starting a 37-year career in the glass business.
He worked for Arkansas City Glass from 1967 until 1992 and then started Moorman Glass Co., retiring in 2004.
Eldon was excellent at his craft, whether he was installing glass in cars, storefronts or cutting glass for tabletops, and he loved his work.
After retiring, he took up bicycling for exercise and developed a passion for riding a bike that lasted until his death.
He had ridden all over Kansas and Oklahoma, and once took a three-day bike ride to Missouri with friends. He also taught himself to play guitar and spent many hours playing to relax.
In recent years, Eldon recommitted his life to the Lord and wanted nothing more than a chance to tell others about Christ. He was a member of the Newkirk Church of Christ. He was outgoing and never knew a stranger.
He always was willing to help a friend or relative work on something and never would accept payment. He will be missed dearly by family, friends and his beloved church family.
Eldon is survived by his soulmate and wife of 38 years, Arleta “Robin” Moorman; sons, Kevin Wiles, of Arkansas City, and Chris Moorman, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; daughters, Melicia Baker, and husband, David, of Arkansas City, and Ann Suggs, and husband, Danny, of Ponca City; siblings, David Michael Moorman, of Amarillo, Texas, and Ronald Lee Moorman and Rose Lavelle Smith, both of Blackwell, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edward Dean Moorman.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Prostate Cancer Research Institute. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
