Cowley County Sheriff Dave Falletti spoke to the Arkansas City Rotary Club on Monday/March 13. Falletti was elected last year and sworn in Jan. 9.
The former Kansas Bureau of Investigation agent said he plans several changes at the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office, including new markings and internal lights on vehicles, and external, bullet-resistant vests for deputies that can be removed more easily.
Falletti also said he plans to request a new position to oversee patrol units and he wants to start a chaplain program to help with death notifications. The sheriff’s annual budget is about $2.4 million, plus another $1.8 million for county jail operations, he said.
