The Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Board of Directors overwhelmingly chose to give the June 2017 Open Arms Award to the Arkansas City Farm and Art Market.
The Farm and Art Market provides a place for area farmers of various kinds, as well as artists and craftsmen, to make their homegrown or homemade products available to the greater Arkansas City community every Tuesday night in May through September.
The market was selected because it has created a place for community and local commerce, while also helping to promote healthy eating choices for community members.
“We want to commend them for their innovative ideas that have helped to make this great market into an even bigger offering of artists, musicians, culinary delights and fun activities here in Ark City’s Wilson Park,” said Chamber President and CEO Kammy Downs.
“Thank you, Arkansas City Farm and Art Market, for your willingness to serve the citizens and businesses of the Arkansas City-area community!”
The chamber’s Open Arms Award is given to a nonprofit for exemplary achievement in community aid advancement, development, expansion, involvement or other outstanding accomplishments. The Open Arms Award recipients then are eligible for an annual Open Arms of the Year Award.
