The Arkansas City Public School District is participating in the Summer Food Service Program again this year.

The program, sponsored by USD 470 and administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will help to ensure that children receive the healthy meals they need not only to function, but also to grow and excel during the summer.

With the addition of Sally’s Spot, a new mobile meals bus, the district hopes to serve the community better. The bus will feature booth-style seating, books, tablets and free Wi-Fi for children to use while they eat.

Meals will be served for free to children aged 1 to 18.

There is no sign-up or registration required and, best of all, there is no charge for the meals.

Meals will be served Mondays through Fridays on June 1-30 at the following times and locations:

Arkansas City High School, 1200 W. Radio Lane

  • Breakfast — 7 to 8:30 a.m.
  • Lunch — 11 to 11:30 a.m.

Arkansas City Middle School, 400 E. Kansas Ave.

  • Breakfast — 7:30 to 8 a.m.
  • Lunch — 11 to 11:30 a.m.

Roosevelt Elementary School, 300 North B St.

  • Breakfast — 7:30 to 8 a.m.
  • Lunch — 11 to 11:30 a.m.

Sally’s Spot Meal Bus Stops

  • IXL Elementary School, 6758 322nd Road — 10:30 to 10:50 a.m.
  • Winton Park, 1200 South G St. — 11 to 11:20 a.m.
  • Calvary Chapel, 1001 S. Third St. — 11:30 to 11:50 a.m.
  • City Ball Park, 1600 S. Summit St. — 12 to 12:20 p.m.
  • Lincoln Early Childhood Center, 600 South B St. — 1 to 1:20 p.m.
