One of my favorite holiday traditions is to make delicious Christmas treats.
While these treats are not healthy, they are a fairly easy and inexpensive way to make gifts for those in your life.
One of the fan-favorite treats that my family makes is our decadent holiday fudge.
It is one of the simplest things we make, but easily one of the most complimented.
There are only two required ingredients and it takes approximately 15 minutes to make.
Holiday fudge ingredients
- 3 cups chocolate chips — any variety, e.g. milk, semi-sweet or dark
- 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
Combine chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in a sauce pan.
Melt over medium heat, stirring until smooth.
Pour into an 8-inch square pan and spread until smooth.
Refrigerate the fudge until it is hard, which takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.
You can add a cup of chopped nuts — my favorite add-in is pecans — or marshmallows during the process.
If you decide to go the marshmallow route, you need to add 2 tablespoons of butter to the chocolate while it is melting before adding marshmallows.
To make it easier to pull the fudge out of the pan, line it with wax paper before pouring in the hot fudge mix.
This also makes cleaning the pan a snap.
With the holidays right around the corner, you can’t go wrong by having this fudge in your gift-giving arsenal.
