Teacher Ethan Dane Huff made his first appearance in court Nov. 7 following an October arrest for an alleged inappropriate sexual relationship with a student.
Huff appeared in the Arkansas City courtroom, presided over by Cowley County District Court Judge Christopher Smith.
His attorney, who was retained from Wichita, also appeared. Richard Paugh requested that his client’s case be continued to Dec. 12.
Huff has been free on bond since the day of his arrest. His bond conditions were continued to his next appearance.
He also has been suspended indefinitely from his teaching position with the Arkansas City Public School District.
The criminal complaint filed against Huff lists two counts of unlawful sexual relations with a person 16 years of age or older.
Each of the counts comes with a potential penalty of 31 to 136 months in prison, a fine of up to $300,000 and a post-release supervision term of 24 months.
Huff is to have no contact with the alleged victim of these crimes.
His next appearance was set for 1:30 p.m. Dec. 12.
