K&O memorial quilt
Roland Schmidt, a charter member of the club, passed away in 2015, followed this year by his wife. The late Shirley Schmidt was a quilter.
The late Shirley Schmidt was a quilter. Their children have donated a quilt she made to be used as a fundraiser for the club.
The money will be used to purchase school supplies for area schools, according to the club’s Facebook page. The school supplies will be given out at the annual K&O kids day in October.
The quilt is made from leftover denim from blue jeans and overalls. A “little something of everything” was used to make it.
The quilt measures 76 inches by 50 inches and is decorated with yo-yos, which were a favorite of Shirley Schmidt.
Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. They can be purchased at the K&O show or by calling (620) 222-8000.
The drawing will be held at the September K&O meeting and delivered to the winner in person or by mail.
