Cowley County Sheriff’s Office

  • Deputies were dispatched to Campground No. 4 at Winfield City Lake for a report of a possible disturbance. They contacted several parties and told them to keep the noise down.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 2200 block of West Ninth Avenue in Winfield for a report of a one-vehicle, non-injury, car-raccoon accident that occurred in the 6000 block of U.S. 160.
  • Deputies checked a vehicle in the area of the U.S. 77 bypass.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 15000 block of U.S. 160 for a report of a dead deer in the roadway.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 3800 block of East Ninth Avenue in Winfield for a report of a reckless driver in a light-colored tractor-trailer who was unable to maintain a single lane of travel. The vehicle was not located in the area.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Winfield Street in Rock for a report of criminal damage to property regarding a broken window.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 26000 block of U.S. 77 for a report of a possible one-vehicle, non-injury, car-deer accident.
  • Deputies opened a case for a report of mistreatment of a dependent adult in the southern portion of the county.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 31000 block of U.S. 166 for a report of cattle on the roadway.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 7000 block of State Street in Wilmot for a report of attempted identity theft.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Williams Street in Rock for a report of a ball bearing found on the caller’s porch that the caller thought might be related to the incident reported around 8 a.m. regarding a broken window.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Four County Mental Health, where it was reported that a juvenile was making threats toward grandparents.
  • Deputies were dispatched to call a person about the abuse of a horse in the county.
  • Deputies checked an animal’s welfare in the 28000 block of 115th Drive. No contact was made.
  • Deputies transported a prisoner for the Arkansas City Police Department to the Cowley County Jail.
  • Deputies went to the Winfield Correctional Facility to pick up a prisoner, Jason Tarrence Shanley, 26, of Salina, on a Saline County District Court warrant for failure to appear. He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail on that warrant. Shanley will be released June 13 for transport to Saline County.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 15000 block of U.S. 160 for a report of cattle on the roadway.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the Arkansas City Police Department to speak with a county resident regarding an issue.
  • Deputies went to the 28000 block of 115th Road for another animal welfare check and made contact this time.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 10000 block of 286th Road for a report of a caller alleging that another person was slandering his name and harassing his fiancée.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of North 15th Street for a report of cattle on the roadway.
  • Deputies removed debris from the roadway in the 24000 block of U.S. 77.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 1800 block of Wheat Road in Winfield for a report of a reckless driver in a gray vehicle.
  • Deputies arrested Matthew Paris Ballard, 48, of Winfield, in the 1500 block of Mansfield Street in Winfield on a Cowley County District Court warrant for probation violation. He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail on that warrant.
  • Deputies arrested Jaron Greenfield McCormack, 29, of Winfield, in the 1700 block of Menor Street in Winfield on a Cowley County District Court warrant for probation violation. He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail on that warrant. McCormack since has posted bond and been released.
  • Deputies assisted a motorist in the 10000 block of U.S. 166.
  • Deputies were dispatched to contact the Wellington Police Department regarding a stolen license plate that had been recovered.
  • Deputies assisted a motorist in the area of the K-360 bypass.
  • Deputies went to the 700 block of North Eighth Street to serve an order of protection from abuse.
  • Deputies checked a van with an open door in the 900 block of South First Street. The occupant was inside doing some work.
  • Deputies checked two pedestrians in the 6000 block of U.S. 160.
  • Deputies arrested Randy Henry Tagle, 28, of Burden, in the 700 block of East Elm Street in Burden on three Cowley County District Court warrants for probation violation. He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail on those warrants.
  • Deputies assisted a motorist in the 23000 block of U.S. 77. The vehicle had a flat tire and the tire was changed.
  • Deputies transported a prisoner for the Arkansas City Police Department to the Cowley County Jail.
