Area students seeking local scholarships through Legacy Regional Community Foundation have one week left to submit applications.
College scholarship applications for Arkansas City, Burden, Sedan, Udall and Winfield high school seniors are available now in the guidance offices of those high schools. The scholarship amounts range from $250 to more than $1,000.
Some are for students pursuing specific areas of study, while many are open to any student who is pursuing a higher education.
In 2016, more than $50,000 in scholarships were awarded through Legacy Foundation.
All of the scholarships are funded through endowments held by Legacy Regional Community Foundation.
“Scholarships are a popular way for our donors to honor the life of a loved one or to give back from the fullness of their lives,” said Yazmin Wood, executive director. “We encourage every student to look into these opportunities. These donors know the value and the cost of good education, and want to make it more possible for our graduates.”
