For over 75 years now, the Arkansas City Kiwanis Club has been serving pancakes at Arkalalah. The event has become a tradition in the club. Generations of Kiwanis members have helped, served and enjoyed the fun of flipping Flapjacks for the people of Arkansas City.
The event has become a tradition for Arkansas City families, as well. Every year, families gather early in the morning to enjoy Kiwanis pancakes and a time of conversation before they begin their busy Saturday at Arkalalah.
In the 75 years of serving pancakes to Arkansas City, the Kiwanis Club has served well over 100,000 people more than 350,000 pancakes! Many of you remember standing in long lines outside the parking garage, waiting to taste those delicious flapjacks.
What you may not know is that every ticket sold, every pancake eaten, every forkful tasted, every memory made, also has made a memory for the children of our community! All the proceeds from the ticket sales for the Kiwanis pancake feed stay right here in Arkansas City. Every dollar raised from every pancake you have eaten stays right here to help the children of our community.
In the 75 years that Kiwanis has been serving pancakes to Arkansas City, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been raised for scholarships for our college students! Countless numbers of baseball and softball teams have been sponsored! Young men and women have been trained for future leadership at Boys and Girls State! Young men and women have attended Kiwanis leadership camps! Young men and women have been assisted in pursuing their dreams and their goals through the pancakes that you purchased!
Several years ago, the Kiwanis Club of Arkansas City started a new tradition to assist the children of our community. The chicken noodle booth sponsored by the Kiwanis Club has served thousands of people hot, delicious chicken noodles on cold afternoons at the Arkalalah Festival!
Many of you have stood on the corner watching the parade go by, warming your hands with a hot cup of chicken noodles or chili from the Kiwanis chicken noodle booth! Every noodle you have eaten, every drop of broth that has dribbled down your chin, also has gone to help the children of our community!
For three-quarters of a century, the Kiwanis Club of Arkansas City has been committed to serving the children of our community, improving their lives so that we might improve the future of our community!
Today, we want to say thank you to every person who has been a sponsor of our pancake feed, our chicken noodle booth or any one of the extra projects we have participated in to improve the lives of the children in our community.
Today, we want to say thank you to you — the thousands of you who have enjoyed the pancake feed in the past, who will enjoy the pancake feed this year and who will enjoy the pancake feeds of years to come! We appreciate your patronage, your support and your committed care for the children of our community!
Thank you for supporting the Kiwanis Club of Arkansas City in its effort to improve the lives of our children one child at a time!
Thank you to everyone who makes this future possible!
