The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) in Arkansas City will sell cookies starting at 9 a.m. Dec. 10.
This annual cookie sale started in 2004 and once again will be hosted by Redeemer Lutheran Church, located at 320 W. Central Ave.
Ark City’s LWML group is made up of 16 women, each of whom will bake at least 10 dozen cookies for the sale.
“If you want a good selection, you’ve got to get there early,” said Jane Osburn, one of the members of LWML. “Last year, we almost ran out.”
Among the selections available to cookie seekers will be candies and diabetic cookies.
Each person who comes to buy cookies will be able to pick each of his or her goodies. The price for the sweet treats is $6 per pound.
LWML uses the proceeds for several things during the year, including:
- providing Christmas gifts for shut-ins;
- Thursday night classes for individuals with disabilities;
- Mosaic camp in September;
- helping the church with special purchases;
- paying national organization dues.
Most of the money raised stays in the community, Osburn said.
