Two local organizations have announced supply drives for donations to benefit of victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

Medicalodges of Arkansas City and Factory Connection both have opened their doors to accept certain supplies.

If you choose to donate to other organizations, experts recommend checking them out first to ensure the donations will go where they are supposed to.

The Center for International Disaster Information recommends checking with a charity monitoring organization such as Charity Watch and the Better Business Bureau before donating.

Medicalodges donations

“If you would like to make a donation, please drop off at 203 East Osage (in) Arkansas City,” said Steve Griffin, administrator of Medicalodges of Arkansas City.

Donations can include clothes, blankets, bottled water and nonperishable food items.

Anything beneficial to those in need can be donated, according to Griffin.

“If you cannot make it to Arkansas City, I am willing to meet for pickup,” he said.

Questions regarding the Medicalodges drive can be answered by calling (620) 442-9300 ext. 140301.

It is accepting donations until Sept. 8.

Medicalodge is located at 203 E. Osage Ave.

Factory Connection donations

Factory Connection is hosting a drive that will end on Sept. 11.

“I am opening my store for a donation drop-off zone for specific items only,” said Factory Connection Manager Raven Birmingham.

“We will accept water, canned goods, non-perishables and blankets.”

The store also will have socks available for purchase for relief efforts.

“Everyone who purchases socks from my store will get to fill out two raffle tickets per pack of socks purchased to raffle for a gift card,” Birmingham said.

Every pack of water, non-perishables and unused blankets brought to the store also will gain an entry into the raffle.

“Cash donations are also accepted. Please bring cash sealed in an envelope for security,” Birmingham said.

Factory Connection is located at 2135 N. Summit St.
