The 2017 Outdoor Friday Family Movie Series will conclude its summer season July 21 in Arkansas City with an animated film at Paris Park Pool, 600 W. Fifth Ave.
The aquatic-themed “swim-in” movie night will kick off at 7 p.m. with free admission to the pool. Any admission prior to 7 p.m. that day is paid only.
Around sunset at 8:45 p.m., the free showing of last summer’s Pixar animated hit, “Finding Dory,” will commence. This PG-rated film is cosponsored by the Arkansas City Convention and Visitors Bureau, which will provide free giveaways to all event participants, and The Stock Exchange Bank.
In this sequel to “Finding Nemo,” last year’s pool movie, the friendly but forgetful blue tang fish, Dory, begins a search for her long-lost parents. Everyone learns a few things about the real meaning of family.
Concessions will be provided by the Arkansas City Recreation Commission and Paris Park Pool.
Those who wish to watch, but not swim, are urged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Anyone planning to swim must wear appropriate swimwear. Children younger than 9 must be accompanied by an adult.
This movie will complete the spring and summer outdoor film slate, but a few more free films will be shown in 2017, including a rescheduled showing of “Sing” in Newkirk, Oklahoma, on a day to be announced later.
Four additional movies are planned for this fall, including one in conjunction with the National Night Out kickoff party for the second straight year. A total of 16 free movies will be shown outdoors in 2017.
“We are so appreciative of the generous sponsors who make these wonderful events possible,” said City Manager Nick Hernandez. “If you are interested in being a sponsor or represent a nonprofit that would like to serve concessions, please call Andrew Lawson at (620) 441-4415 to discuss your options.”
