Several Arkansas City churches have come together to create a new youth event for the area.
Chloe Strecker, 14, requested an event that involves all of the area youth groups, and show people it is possible to have fun and glorify God at the same time.
With help from her mother, Strecker was able to put together plans for just such a youth event for local middle school and high school students.
This event will take place from 4 to 10 p.m. July 16 in the field next to Strecker’s home at 333 Stanley Drive.
Several churches already are involved in the youth event. Students who have not heard of the event through church are asked to call (620) 441-1498 to find out how they can become involved.
The event will include inflatables, music and games such as kiddie pool kickball. There will be food available, as well.
“The hope is that this will be the first of many events where the churches can come together — we may belong to a variety of denominations, but we serve the same God,” states a press release.
There will be a similar event for younger children from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 16 at Harvest Fellowship, located at 1900 North F St.
This event will include games, inflatables, a puppet show and lunch.
