Arkansas City banker Lance Niles was appointed Monday night by the USD 470 Board of Education to fill a vacant seat on the board.

The seat was vacated recently by Dr. Aaron Watters.

Niles will fill the seat until the second Monday in January 2018, which is Jan. 8, according to USD 470 Public Relations Director Alisha Call.

That night, one of the individuals who wins this November’s election will take his place.

Niles, who works at Union State Bank, filed for election last month and will campaign this fall against five other candidates for one of the three available seats on the school board.
