The Arkansas City Police Department has received the 2016 National Award for Outstanding Participation in “America’s Night Out Against Crime” for its National Night Out events in October.
“Without the active participation from the community, National Night Out would not be the success we have on an annual basis,” said ACPD Officer Chase Hobart. “I appreciate each donor who sees the importance of building stronger relationships between law enforcement and the community.”
The award the department was presented with by the National Association of Town Watch placed ACPD at No. 28 nationally among cities of Ark City’s population size. “This is great news and I hope to build upon that and improve that for 2017,” Hobart said.
Hobart was one of the event’s major organizers last year.
“Really, all that means is I make a lot of phone calls and knock on doors of businesses, asking for their help in making (the) vision a success,” Hobart said.
“I’ve already got several new ideas in mind for this year that I want to build upon, and make it even bigger and better than the past.”
