The Arkansas City Police Department is preparing for its upcoming National Night Out festivities.

Arkansas City Police Department logoMany activities are planned for both the kickoff party on Oct. 2 and the neighborhood block parties on Oct. 3.

However, funds are becoming an issue for ACPD, which has a small budget to make these events happen.

“We are in a pinch!” said ACPD School Resource Officer Chase Hobart.

“We have limited funds to make such an awesome event successful. ACPD is asking for help.”

Any funds collected will be used to offset the costs associated with the events.

“I know this community rallies behind one another in times of need,” Hobart said. “One recent example that I can recall would be the fireworks show that the Fraternal Order of Police could not obtain all the funds for, and the community got it done.”

Individuals, clubs, organizations and businesses are encouraged to consider giving.

“Give a lot or a little — all funds are going to a worthy cause,” Hobart said. “It’s my wish that we all pull together and make this happen just like we did with (the fireworks).”

There are several different sponsorship levels that will be recognized:

  • bronze level — $50 to $99;
  • silver level — $100 to $249;
  • gold level — $250 to $499;
  • platinum level — $500 or more.

If interested in donating, send funds to the Arkansas City Police Department, 117 W. Central Ave., Arkansas City, KS 67005, or call Officers Hobart or Brian McGee at (620) 441-4444. Checks can be made out in care of National Night Out.
