The annual Cub Scouts popcorn fundraiser is just around the corner, as well as several other fundraisers for the local Pack 328.

“We’re raising money for uniforms, camp fees, dues and any other costs associated with Scouting,” said one Scout mother. “We encourage the boys to participate to not only teach them the value of hard work, but to also lessen the financial costs many families can’t afford.”

The fundraising helps boys who can’t afford to participate to do so — each boy who participates in the fundraising activities earns a percentage of all donations.

“We also accept donations of clean, functional camping gear to make sure no boy is excluded from camp-outs,” said the mother.

On Sept. 17, there will be a hamburger feed at Orscheln Farm and Home. Watch for more details in coming weeks.

The Scouts also will raise funds during the Last Run Car Show this year.

The family camp-out for the Scouts is Sept. 10-11. It is held to welcome all new Scouts and their families to the group.

In October, there will be a Monster Mash, which is a Halloween party.

Also in October will be the Webelos Woods at Camp Kanza. The Webelos rank consists of fourth- and fifth-graders.
