The Arkansas City Recreation Center is looking for merchants and nonprofit organizations to provide booths for this year’s Trunk or Treat event.

RecTrick or Treat Night is scheduled for Oct. 31 this year. While it normally is held on Halloween, it has been moved in the past due to Arkalalah — but not this year.

The Rec Center will offer a safe, one-stop location for trick-or-treaters from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

Merchants and groups that are interested in having a table at the event must reserve a table at the Rec Center, 225 E. Fifth Ave.

Trunk or Treat will be outdoors, where trick-or-treaters can walk by and collect treats from the trunks of vehicles. There also will be tables inside the Rec Center.

There is no charge for attendance, but the Rec Center encourages participants to dress up.

This year marks the 11th year for the event, which has grown steadily in attendance. Merchants should be prepared for 1,500 to 2,000 children to visit.

This is a great opportunity to promote information to the community.

The parking lot will be blocked off, as well as Fifth Avenue in front of the Rec Center, to offer a safe environment for those who are trick-or-treating.

Email Debbi Davidson at ddavidson@arkcityrec.org, or call (620) 441-2018 or (620) 441-4300, to reserve a table or parking spot.

Tables will be available to decorate after 2 p.m. Oct. 31.

Participants may come in early to put up any decorations, signs or advertising that they would like for their area.

Cars may have to be decorated after 5 p.m. because there is no guarantee the parking lot will be available during the day.
