Kansas Senate candidate Don Shimkus, of Oxford, will be at the Wilson Park rotunda this weekend for a “Fall Festival” campaign event.
From 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 1, there will be food and activities for all ages, as well as live music. The event is free to the public.
Shimkus is running as a Democrat against Republican Larry Alley, of Winfield, for the seat vacated by former Sen. Steve Abrams, R-Arkansas City.
“You deserve a leader who delivers common-sense solutions to our challenges,” Shimkus said in a release. “I am that leader.”
The AME Gospel Travelers are scheduled to perform at this event.
Shimkus has served for more than 10 years on the Oxford Board of Education and currently is serving as its president.
In addition to his service on the Oxford school board, he also currently serves as president of the Kansas Association of School Boards.
