WINFIELD — The Southwestern College Youth Symphony (SCYS) will hold auditions for the 2017-18 season May 23-25. Audition times are from 2 to 6 p.m. each day in SC’s Darbeth Rehearsal Hall.

Students through 12th grade who are in their second year of playing are invited to audition.

Students should be prepared to play a short piece that shows their level of playing, two scales in contrasting styles and a short sight reading exercise.

The audition fee is $5. Online registration is available at

SCYS is accepting students who play violin, viola, cello, string bass, flute, piccolo, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion, electric bass or electric guitar.

Concert dates for the upcoming season are Oct. 15; Jan. 28, 2018; and April 22, 2018. All concerts will begin at 3 p.m. For more information, contact Ismail Farid at or (620) 218-1178.
