In an effort to be more accessible to its growing number of customers, Steamy Joe soon will extend its hours of operation.

steamy-joeThe coffee shop will continue to open at 7 a.m., but now will stay open until 8 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays. The new hours will begin Sept. 19.

Saturday hours will remain the same — 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Randy and Ruth Ryel, owners of Steamy Joe, recently thanked Arkansas City and surrounding communities for their support of the coffee house and deli, located at 216 W. Central Ave.

Sept. 21 will mark the end of their first year in business. “We want to invite the community to stop in and see us … September 21,” the Ryels said in a release.

That day, Steamy Joe will offer all of its customers free coffee and iced tea with the purchase of any other item.

They also will have a drawing with every sale to give away several free specialty coffee drinks, pastries and T-shirts.

The grand prize will be an “all you can eat and drink” dinner for four in the Victorian tea room upstairs.

Steamy Joe has a convenient drive-through, welcomes call-in orders and offers catering service, as well as two event rooms that are inexpensive to rent.

In addition to specialty coffees and pastries, Steamy Joe has had success with its breakfast menu, which is served from 7 to 10:30 a.m., as well as its lunch menu items, which are served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

However, beginning Sept. 19, the eatery also will offer a dinner menu from 5 to 8 p.m.

It will include most of the delicious lunch menu selections, such as chicken salad croissants, barbecue pulled pork sandwiches, wraps, bierocks, and soups and salads, but it also will add Ruth Ryel’s famous taco salads in a fried tortilla bowl each night.
