Steven Kent Tredway, 65, of Arkansas City, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Burden Cemetery.

Born Aug. 8, 1951, in Sedan, Steve was the son of Dorth Elwood “Bud” and Dorothy Jean (Payne) Tredway. He was raised and received his education in Burden, graduating from Burden High School in 1969. He later attended Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City.

Steve began his career as a machinist for Binney & Smith, where he worked for more than 27 years. He later worked at General Electric and Calmar, retiring Aug. 1, 2016.

On July 17, 1971, Steve and Debra Newton were joined in marriage. From that marriage was born one son, Michael. In 1978, Steve and his second wife, Pamela Reyez, were married. That marriage ended in 1985.

Steve possessed a tremendous love of and talent for the arts. As a potter, he became known throughout the U.S., and his works can be found in galleries and homes of collectors.

He relied on his love of music and his talent to enable him to profess, to all who knew him, his deep Christian faith and relationship with his Lord and Savior.

Steve’s music let him touch the lives of those who knew him and portrayed his strong Christian faith. One of his greatest experiences was traveling to Israel, where he was baptized in the Jordan River.

As a photographer, Steve’s work was unsurpassed. Literally dozens of his pictures dressed the walls of businesses and individuals who admired his work. At the time of his passing, he had photographed the stone arch bridges of Cowley County, and was nearing completion of a book documenting the bridges and their history.

Steve is survived by his son, Michael, and wife, Carrie, of Derby; mother, Dorothy Tredway, of Winfield; brother, Doug Tredway, and wife, Pam, of Mount Hope; sister, Lori Howell, and husband, Pat, of Fort Supply, Oklahoma; and grandchildren, Tauer and Taryn. He was preceded in death by his father, Bud Tredway.

A memorial has been established in Steve’s name for Wings as Eagles Church in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
