Brandi Murphy has opened up a brand-new store, Take 5, with the help of Jessica Olson.
“Take 5 was started with you in mind,” Murphy said. “Take 5 is my muse, my passion, you might say.
“It also has given me the peace of mind, knowing that I know exactly what I’m putting in and on my body.”
Take 5 creates bath and body products, using 100-percent pure essential oils and dried botanicals in every product.
The women have set up shop at 218 S. Summit St., in historic downtown Arkansas City, where they have the products on display.
“We set out to create an all-natural version of a body wash our owner fell in love with,” Olson said.
“Many of our products are created for their benefits, both mind and body.”
“I’ve spent many years researching and developing my products, partly out of the necessity of knowing what was in the products that I was using and introducing into my own body, and partly because of my love for all things natural and holistic,” Murphy said.
Some of the basic oils used in their products include lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, rose and bergamot.
“All of them have their own special properties,” Olson said.
“When applied to our skin, it creates a therapeutic effect,” Olson said.
“Today’s beauty products are riddled with harsh chemicals and ingredients that just aren’t beneficial or necessary,” Murphy said.
“We believe it’s best to use products and ingredients that not only smell good, but do good.”
Even so, they also offer a range of “fun scents” that include sea-port mist and wild-berry cobbler.
“We even have some nostalgic (scents) like our orange vanilla dream that smells like the summertime childhood favorite, orange cream popsicles,” Murphy said.
Take 5 also creates customized scents for its customers.
Each product — including special orders — is mixed in the shop, and special orders don’t take long to create.
“Most of the time, we can do (them) the same day or the next,” Olson said.
Among the products Take 5 carries are sugar scrubs, bath salt soaks, lotions, body sprays, bath melts and multi-use bontanical soap sachets.
“We are always growing and expanding our product line,” Olson said.
