Three Arkansas City residents have been arrested by the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a spate of recent burglaries, according to a news release.
Jason Wayne Nelson, 42, was arrested on suspicion of burglary of a non-dwelling, residential burglary, theft and theft by deception, all of which are felonies.
Nelson was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $50,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. He remained in custody at the time of this release.
Allen Lamar Coffman, 47, and Deanna Lynn Nelson, 44, were arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal a firearm, criminal damage to property, residential burglary and two counts of theft by deception, all of which are felonies. They were transported to and booked into the county jail in lieu of $25,000 each through Arkansas City district court.
Both Coffman and Deanna Nelson also remained in custody at the time of this release. Coffman also is being held on a failure to comply order through Winfield district court.
In the late spring, sheriff’s investigators began noticing a trend in residential burglaries in the Arkansas City area. Investigators and deputies spent hundreds of hours investigating the burglaries.
Through diligent investigative efforts, they were able to connect burglaries in Bolton, Creswell and Vernon townships. The results of this ongoing investigation led to the three arrests.
