Do opposites really attract? John and Nora might just be the perfect match. Find out in True to You, book one in Becky Wade’s new series! Genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now. Former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he’s diagnosed with an inherited condition, he’s forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him to uncover the identity of his birth mother. Finding the answers they’re seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith and their devotion to one another.

Those looking for a summer read need look no further than Becky Wade’s newest offering.

In True to You, Wade creates a fun, complex cast of characters to populate her world.

This is the first installment in a proposed series surrounding the Bradford sisters, and it centers around Nora, a genealogist and business owner.

Through a series of events, Nora meets former Navy SEAL John Lawson.

John is an adoptee who enlists Nora’s help in searching for his biological mother.

The story is told through their perspectives, with an occasional chapter from a different character’s point of view, as well as some text and email messages at the end of each chapter.

This allows the readers to have information that other characters don’t have access to, which actually helps to build tension because you keep wondering how it all is going to play out.

Nora is a sweet, damaged and flawed character who has been chronically single since her engagement ended in horrible heartbreak.

The heart of this novel is really its relationships — the relationship between Nora and John, Nora and her sisters, and most importantly Nora and herself.

The author did an excellent job of displaying and developing these relationships in a realistic way.

It would be easy to make John out to be a stereotypically perfect hero, but instead, Wade made him flawed. He must fight his own battles, just like Nora.

This novel also deals with some difficult topics that I can’t go into without giving too much away.

Wade also doesn’t shy away from topics that often are considered taboo in Christian fiction, but are no less realistic, such as desire, lust and dealing with thoughts you shouldn’t allow.

I never had read a Wade novel before, so I really didn’t know what to expect, but once I dipped into the story, I found myself very invested in the characters.

If you enjoy contemporary romance with a twist, you definitely should give True to You a shot.

I can’t wait to see which Bradford sister’s story is told next!
