The human race can be impatient and harried. I personally battle trying to “make things happen” on my timeline.

When things don’t happen how or when we want them to, we often feel as though we have failed or God has forgotten about us.

It’s easy to forget that our timeline isn’t always the same as God’s timeline.

Marlo Schalesky addresses waiting in a Godly fashion in her new book, “Waiting for Wonder: Learning to Live on God’s Timeline.”

Using Sarah — who waited decades for a promised child — as a biblical example, Schalesky uses both scripture and imagined thoughts to give readers an idea of what that waiting must have been like for Sarah.

While I tend to be cautious when fictional thoughts are attributed to biblical people, in this case, the author clearly differentiates between historical accounts and imagined thoughts.

Schalesky unfolds Sarah’s story, along with bits of her own, to show readers the beauty and strengthening of faith that can happen while we await God’s perfect timing. The author has a very strong, distinctive voice and presents some really great ideas about the true nature of waiting.

Those who feel like they are stuck in a “between place” should give “Waiting for Wonder” a whirl. They might find their whole outlook has changed.

Disclaimer: I was provided a free copy of this book. However, all opinions are my own.
