Arkansas City could see some wintry weather today, according to Arkansas City Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Frazee.
Less than 1 inch of snow is expected this afternoon in the area, which also may see some sleet and freezing drizzle.
The timing of this winter event is a bit challenging to describe, according to the National Weather Service in Wichita.
Snow will initially move in or develop from west to east across central Kansas, while gradually expanding to the south during the morning.
Light snow will develop across south-central Kansas during the afternoon, spreading and developing across southeast Kansas later in the afternoon.
The snow will gradually end from west to east across the entire area between 5 p.m. and midnight.
Impacts from this weather could be higher in southeast Kansas if the lower-probability freezing drizzle or light freezing rain develops, as it will be isolated and could catch drivers unaware.
